SKIN REJUVENATION TREATMENT
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process for a facial?
One of our aestheticians will cleanse your skin, apply medical-grade facial products to your skin, and treat your skin. The facial may involve extractions, dermaplaning, and medical-grade chemical peels. Appointments are usually 45-60 minutes.
What aftercare is required?
The following aftercare is recommended to improve all skin care treatment results and to minimize side effects:
Avoid extreme sun exposure, UV light, freezing temperatures, and saunas for two weeks after treatment
Avoid additional treatments in the treated area for the next 7 days.
Book a follow-up appointment for consistent results (ask about our membership)
During your facial our aesthetician will advise on any other specific aftercare.
How long do the results last for?
With a good home skincare regime (including daily use of a sunblock), you should see great results for up to 12 months.
What are the risks or potential side effects?
Facials are not suitable for the following people:
Patients who have had laser resurfacing or skin peels in the last 6 weeks
Our aestheticians will advise if there are any other special precautions you have to take prior to your treatment..
Does a Hydrofacial hurt?
Not at all. You may feel slight pressure and tingling during your Hydrofacial treatment, but it is overall very relaxing and soothing.
Does a Dermaplaning hurt?
Not at all. It feels like a gentle scratching across your face. It is a similar sensation to shaving other parts of your body.
What happens after a Microneedling treatment?
Immediately after your Microneedling treatment the skin will appear slightly pink to red, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn. To assist your skin in its recovery our aesthetic practitioner may apply a post-procedure skin product.
There are three phases to the wound repair process:
Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is re-built with new granulation cells, as well as a temporary (type III) collagen and elastin, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Phase III: Remodeling. The wound has been replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels. The type III collagen in the newly formed tissue is replaced with stronger type I collagen, which can contract to create a tightening or “shrink wrap” effect on the skin.
What aftercare is required?
You should avoid intensive UV exposure and artificial exposure for at least 2 weeks after your procedure. It is important that you use a high level broad spectrum sunblock on a daily basis.
Once the redness has cleared following a Microneedling procedure, it is important that the skin is cared for on an ongoing daily basis with a solid skincare regime. Our practitioners will recommend a regime most suitable for you, which will also help maintain the results.
